DUE TO NEGLIGENCE OF NORTH -EAST, INDIA HAS SUFFERED MORE LOSSES
NAGALAND POST————————-Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the rest of India has suffered more losses by not giving priority to the North East in the last seven decades.
Instead of bringing the North East closer to the rest of India, it is now needed that the other states move closer to the region, he said after inaugurating the first of its kind two-day “North East Calling” festival at the India Gate lawns, New Delhi.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also launched the ‘North East Venture Fund’, which is aimed to promote entrepreneurship and Start up in the North Eastern Region.
The fund is a joint initiative of DoNER Ministry and North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFCL).
The minister also launched the North East Tourism Development Council with objective to promote sustainable tourism in North East India.
On the occasion, three MoUs were also signed in the presence of the Minister.
The first ————MoU was signed between North East Tourism Development Council and the Yes Bank.
The other two MoUs were signed with the Ministry under Science & Technology Interventions in the North East Region (STINER) aiming at enabling STINER and promoting NISARGRUNA technology of BARC in bio-energy technology in association with Tripura State.
Dr. Singh said maintained that the development, uplift and growth of North East have been on the priority of the Government under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
The minister said that there was a lot to learn from North East for the rest of India.
He said some NE states were having two digit growth rate and the literacy rate was also high in the region.
He informed that the foundation stone of Barak Hostel in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus was laid this year.
Dr. Singh also said on the lines of India International Centre, there is a plan to built North Eastern Cultural and Information Centre in Delhi soon.
He said Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has allotted a land measuring 5341.75 sqm. (1.32 acre) at Sector-13, Dwarka, New Delhi to the North Eastern Council (NEC).
